Tips for studying abroad in the Philippines

Prepare the necessary documents to submit an application for admission to your school and your field of study: academic records, self-referral letters, notarized documents, interview participation, tuition payment, applying for a student visa to the Philippines,... If there is something you are not sure about the application procedure, find a professional study abroad consultant to assist you.

Health: Take care of your health, restrict long trips before the departure date; Bring along personal medicine, health monitoring books, medical records, and treatment drugs.

Papers: Prepare beforehand the original and 4 copies (notarized if possible) of all personal documents such as admission letter, scholarship notification letter (if any); receipts for tuition fees; passport + student visa; birth certificate, 4x6 picture, international driver’s license (if any). Note: All of the above important documents should be scanned in case of unexpected events that may occur when you travel.

Currency: About 500-1,500 USD is needed for the first month. If you are holding more than 10,000 USD, it is mandatory to declare it to the customs officer. You can exchange money at the counters (Money Changers/Currency Exchange) at the airport or at legal money changers (Licensed Money Changer) at shopping malls or banks. Opening a Philippine domestic bank account helps to save you money.

Other notes: It is recommended to store the addresses, phone numbers, and contact information of the school, the person who picked you up at the airport or relatives, the Vietnamese Student Association in the Philippines, and the emergency numbers (police, ambulance,...) Bring along electronic items such as laptop, camera, cell phone (with important numbers saved), hairdryer, iron, rechargeable battery and charger, and a Philippine voltage transformer (220 voltage, all plugs with 2 pins, square and round shape).

Philippines student visas and regulations

As also a Southeast Asian country, you will be exempted from visa duty for the first 30 days. For international students, you can apply for a 59-day stay in the Philippines. If you stay for 8 weeks or more for learning purposes after applying for a visa in Vietnam, every month the school will renew your visa.
